Welcome to Prairie Elementary School.  We will spend the 2011-2012 school year with our Center for Discovery, Kindergarten, and First Grades located at 907 Lewiston Street.  We will call the building they are located in the “Kindergarten” Building so we don’t get confused.  The new elementary school is located at 1916 E Street.  This building will house students in grades 2 through 6 for the 2011-2012 school year.  Second and third grades will be house in the lower part of the elementary building as will Art.  Fourth through sixth grades will be located in the upper end of the building.  Band and music are located off of the cafeteria in a room of their own.

We will start our year with 174 students in grades K-6.  Kindergarten and First grade students will be bused to the elementary school for lunch.  Lunch for Kindergarten through Second grades will be from 11:00 to 11:30.   At  11:30 students will rotate through a weekly schedule with library, computer lab, and outside play.  Students in grades 3 and 4 will start their weekly rotation schedule of library, computer lab and outside play at 10:55—at approximately 11:30 they will eat lunch.   At approximately 12:00 classes will start again for Kindergarten through Fourth grade students.   Our third lunch will start at 12:00 and our fifth and sixth grade students will have 30 minutes to eat and enjoy some time outside.  Class will start again at 12:31.

With our new Kindergarten through Sixth grade arrangement, Prairie Elementary will see our Special Education and Title programs sharing services and space.   Collaboration and coordination of activities will be elementary based.

I look forward to a great year with new and exciting opportunities.  If you have any questions, please feel free to stop in and visit or call the elementary office at 208-962-3521.
